Solukhumbu: A team of ten Sherpa climbers, dedicated to fixing ropes for expedition teams, achieved a remarkable feat by reaching the summit of the world's tallest peak, Mt. Everest.
Their successful ascent signals the readiness of the trekking route, paving the way for both Nepali nationals and foreign climbers to embark on their expeditions this season. Khimlal Gautam, Chief of Field Office of the Department of Tourism, confirmed that the rope fixing team reached the summit at 8:15 pm on Friday, thereby officially opening the route for this year's expeditions.
"Now, with the route secured, Mt. Everest is open for climbers," stated Gautam, emphasizing the significance of the Sherpa team's accomplishment in facilitating the subsequent ascents of other climbers.
The members of the rope fixing team who conquered the summit include Dendi Sherpa, Tenzing Gyalzen Sherpa, Pemba Tasi Sherpa, Lakpa Sherpa, Dawa Rinze Sherpa, Dawa Sherpa, Pam Dorjee Sherpa, Suk Bahadur Tamang, Namgyal Dorjee Tamang, and Lakpa Rinze Sherpa.
According to official records from the Department of Tourism, a total of 414 individuals from 41 expedition teams have obtained permits for the spring season's Mt. Everest expeditions, highlighting the continued allure of the world's highest peak among mountaineers worldwide.
